The best way to prevent lost data disasters is to backup regularly. However, it happens to almost everyone at some stage that they lose data that isn't backed-up anywhere or simply corrupted.

AppleXsoft File Recovery for Mac recovers data from corrupted, deleted and formatted partitions and from crashed drives where Macintosh based file system are installed. Note that AppleXsoft File Recovery for Mac recovers data from HFS and HFS+ partitions. There is no lengthy setup procedure and AppleXsoft File Recovery for Mac opens almost immediately when downloaded.

The interface looks similar to OS X's own Disk Doctor. The window in the top left of the application displays the drives that can be scanned. Click on a drive, then click on either Browse Volume, Deleted Files Scan, Lost Files Scan or Lost Volumes Scan to inspect them. If you see any files that you want to recover, click on them and then select a destination to save them to. Note that you must save the files to a different destination than you recover them from otherwise you run the risk of overwriting and losing the original data.

AppleXsoft File Recovery for Mac has clearly drawn its inspiration from OS X Disk Doctor which is no bad thing. However, there´s no guarantee it will be able to recover any data you've lost but its definitely worth a shot.
